The real story of planning a development through Woollahra Council.

About Me. The Story.

Hi. This is a personal account of my problems with Woollahra Council. I’m a Dad with partner and 2 young kids. We’re a pretty normal family. Now there’s not a lot you could say was different from us to any other family when it comes down to our daily lives (except maybe that we’ve decided to blog our story).  We’ve worked hard for many years, had some ups and downs, but last year we made the huge move of putting all our eggs into the dream of building our very own home. It is the ultimate dream for many people - it is still our dream but maybe being a little naive we thought that everything would be good. It was not.

I’ve started this blog up because things at Woollahra Council are just not right. In fact things stink. At this point in time we still have no planning permission (DA - Development Application) although we lodged in May 2007. We have faced all manner of problems largely council related, but the main purpose of this blog is to warn others and perhaps offer a little advice from real people on what to expect from Woollahra Council.

This is not an action group, I don’t want any attention or spotlight - I know there are plenty people with worse problems than me. I just want to tell the story and have it on record. I feel it is important because Councils are public servants who are supposed to act in our (the public) best interests. They are not ‘above the law’ although they do possess great power which makes it vital that general members of the public have a right to have their say.

I’m not publishing my identity as I am a private person but seeing as Woollahra Council are a public service I am not affording them the same privilege.

In the interests of gleaning as much search related traffic below are some popular misspellings of Woollahra. Also feel free to link in to this site. My intention is that eventually anyone searching for Woollahra will find this and maybe knock council off the #1 spot on Google. To help me do this, if you have a blog or website please link back to this page - it will help boost the search engine rankings.
